Life Aid Australia is a Non Government Organisation(NGO) that was started in 2004 in response to a request to help victims of conflict and natural disaster.

A group of volunteers could see that while temporary relief from disaster and emergency was important humanitarian assisstance, the long term priority was to assist children and adults escape from the poverty cycle, and to improve their livelihoods.

Our projects aim to enhance the financial, human and social capital of communities. Financial capital is provided in the form of loans and grants, and the provision of equipment. Human capital (knowledge and skills) is developed through training, in order to enhance individual capabilities and ethics. Social capital is enhanced by building networks of relationships at the local, regional and national levels. By developing individual, social and economic capital we aim to enhance the capability of communities to address inequity, escape poverty, generate income, and explore opportunities for growth.

By becoming a LAA partner you too can help overcome poverty in countries much less fortunate than ours and make the world a better place.

Life Aid Australia is to provide assistance in a holistic manner - paying attention not only to educational, economic and social needs but will take into account spiritual sensibilities. This will be important when working in communities where spiritual awareness plays a large role in community livelihoods.
